Why should I choose In The Arena Therapy over others?

In The Arena is unique because we understand how to discover the root of the problem and truly address it to set you free. As opposed to talk therapy or traditional counseling, we use a unique trauma-informed approach to help you reach deeper levels and more meaningful progress. Our therapists are charismatic and highly competent! We will treat you with respect and unconditional positive regard, no matter who you are or what your story is.

How much does therapy cost?

Our fee is $100-125 for each 50-60 minute session.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of recommended sessions differs with each case, but most people should expect 5-12 sessions. Many will experience significant relief within the first 2-3 appointments.

Do you accept insurance?

We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and are adding new contracts monthly.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a unique, evidence-based treatment approach that uses bilateral stimulation (eye movement or tapping, for example) to help your brain connect to its natural healing processes. It is highly effective at helping individuals to overcome the negative effects of trauma or disturbing events. It is helpful for addressing phobias, anxiety, depression, PTSD, intrusive thoughts, and much more. It is absolutely fascinating and works quicker than many other approaches.

Are there side effects?

It is common to feel tired after trauma sessions (even when you feel much better!), because your brain does a lot of work during that hour! There are other experiences that you may have during or after an EMDR session, and your therapist will discuss these with you prior to beginning treatment.

What if I don’t have any trauma in my past?

In our opinion, trauma isn’t just childhood abuse or sexual assault or combat. People can develop symptoms from even mild trauma or relational trauma or something you didn’t even consider trauma! Our therapists have a unique eye and ear for discovering the roots of your struggle, and once we find them, your growth will be unstoppable!

What should I expect from my first session?

Your first session is an intake assessment, and typically lasts about 60-90 minutes. You can expect that your therapist will ask questions and get to know you. You will discuss goals and treatment plans and your therapist will answer any questions you may have. Developing trust and rapport is extremely important in therapy, and this begins in your first session.

How long does each therapy session last?

50-60 minutes

How often will I need to come in?

Frequency typically ranges from two to four times per month, based on your case and your budget.

Do you use other types of treatment, besides EMDR?

Absolutely! We use a combination of modalities based on your individual needs. Some other modalities we use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Solution Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

What if my therapist isn’t a good fit?

No problem! Sometimes you simply don’t click and that’s okay! If your therapist doesn’t feel like the right clinician for you, simply call our main number and request a new one. You may also just say to your therapist, “Would it be alright if I tried another provider? I’m feeling like this may not be a good fit.” We never take it personal!
